Three Ways to Shop for Clothes Online

Experienced stylist and fashion buyer Remi Landau has worked with some of the best-known fashion names in New York, including Harper’s Bazaar. Alongside her work as a clothing designer, Remi Landau sells luxury fashion items through her own Poshmark store. Poshmark is one of many online clothing retailers that are expanding shopping options for fashion lovers.

In 2018, American shoppers spent more than $100 billion on clothing, shoes, and accessories online. This growing market has led to the creation of numerous innovative online shopping experiences. Here are three of the most popular:

1. Virtual Styling. Several shopping sites, including ShopLook and TrendMe, aggregate fashion items from multiple brands, web shops, and designers into one seamless experience. Customers can view items side-by-side to create virtual outfits and order items from several sources through a single check-out process.

2. Consignment. Shoppers looking for a bargain or a more eco-friendly way to buy clothing can search on dozens of consignment websites, such as Poshmark, the RealReal, and ThredUp. Some sites focus solely on high-end or luxury items, while others specialize in kids’ clothing, bridal wear, or mainstream brands.

3. Subscription Service. After filling out a survey to explain their style preferences and lifestyle, customers of subscription clothing services such as Stitch Fix and Gwynnie Bee receive several pre-selected outfits by mail. Subscribers can purchase the pieces they want and return other items to the web shop at no extra cost.
